Mangoes are one of the world's favorite fruits for food, juice, flavor, fragrance, and color. Many of the world's most popular varieties of mangoes for export – for example Chaunsa, Langra, Desi, Sindhu – preferred for their taste, texture and shelf life, are already being produced in Pakistan. This report has been prepared by the Commercial Section, Consulate of Pakistan, Houston, US in order to study the opportunities and challenges of Pakistani mangoes to USA.
Mangoes are one of the world's favorite fruits for food, juice, flavor, fragrance, and color. Many of the world's most popular varieties of mangoes for export – for example Chaunsa, Langra, Desi, Sindhu – preferred for their taste, texture and shelf life, are already being produced in Pakistan. This report has been prepared by the Commercial Section, Consulate of Pakistan, Houston, US in order to study the opportunities and challenges of Pakistani mangoes to USA.
By 2005, world exports of mangoes had reached a value in excess of 0 million (USD) with a total volume of 82.7 million metric tons. The leading exporter at that time was Mexico. However, by 2006 India's mango exports were valued at more than 7 million as it displaced Mexico as the world's largest exporter of mangoes and Pakistan ranked seventh. The following year, Pakistan fell to eleventh place among world mango exporters with a decrease in share percentage (37.96) as shown in the table below:
