Sanjay Naik's mango orchard in Navsari's Gandeva village has become a centre of attraction for farmers in the nearby villages. A 30-year-old mango tree in his farm has produced five different varieties of mangoes namely sabja, kesar, totapuri, rajapuri and vanraj.
Thanks to his vision to try something different, Naik was successful in getting five mango varieties by applying the soft wood graft method on the tree some two years ago.
"The confidence to grow more varieties on a single tree became strong when I had tried with two varieties three years ago. This year I was successful in getting five mango varieties through the soft wood graft method," Naik said.
